Food, booze, and cake sounds like a party to me, and what kind of a party is better than a PIZZA PARTY? Well the crew from Visit Valley Forge’s marketing team Dan Weckerly and Joe Tacynec is also joining us in studio as they slice through the competition to find out which local pie is primo in Montco’s Best Pizza Tourney. The tourism board launched a bracketed competition – NCAA March Madness-style – pitting 64 pizza palaces against each other and down to the final 8. The best-pizza topic reached more than 400,000 people on Facebook, and its associated YouTube videos were watched more than 80,000 times.
Each of the 64 contenders was also given a marketing kit, delivered by hand in a carton that resembled a personal pizza box. Inside were giveaway magnets, a pad of tear-off voting requests (to accompany customers’ checks) and a copy of Crave, the VFTCB’s award-winning dining guide. Chiaro’s Pizza & Restaurant was winner last year and is still in the running this year against Vinny’s Pizzarama, Bacco Restaurant, Penny’s Pizza, Nippers Bar and Pizza, BRAVO PIZZA WORCESTER, Nicoletta KOP, and Angelo’s Pizza. Who will win???
