LIVE this Sunday, March 4th at 635pm Small Bites with Glenn Gross and Derek Timm of Bluejeanfood.com on Wildfire Radio has another stellar lineup.

We are thrilled to welcome Ali Rosen Gourvitch author of “Bring It! Tried & True Recipes for Potluck and Casual Entertaining by Ali Rosen” from Running Press available for purchase on March 13. Bring It! is the ultimate source for potluck, picnic, or dinner party-worthy dishes that combine simple prep with big taste! Also, Ali is the founder and host of Potluck with Ali, a television show and website dedicated to sharing the best and brightest in food. Potluck airs on NYC Life and its videos have appeared on HuffPost, Edible Magazine, and People. Ali was named as one of Forbes Magazine’s 30 Under 30 for Food & Drink. She has also written for sites including Bon Appétit Magazine, Epicurious, Fodor’s, and Refinery29. Potluck was nominated for an International Emmy Awards as well as two IACP: The International Association of Culinary Professionals awards and Thrillist said Ali had one of the coolest jobs in food (she agrees).

Then we welcome Neha Khullar the author of “Palate Passport”. Neha Khullar is a foodie, coffee addict, sparkly shoe-wearer, and enthusiastic dinner party host. Prior to becoming a cookbook author, Neha Khullar worked on the corporate side of New York City. Fueled by her passion for food and cooking, she set out on a journey to explore culinary traditions around the world. After breaking bread in dozens of places, she learned that food brings people together and creates community regardless of religion, political views, or language; what tastes good can be shared with others. She has spent time with master chefs, street stall cooks, grandmothers, and food lovers all around the world. They have taught her about their favorite local foods and shared the history and stories behind them. Palate Passport is her personal culinary masterpiece created to share this journey with others. She intends to show readers that cooking is fun, it doesn’t have to be intimidating, and if made with love, even an imperfect dish will taste beautiful! Neha has spent three years creating this book in order to thoughtfully coordinate all of its components. The cover was inspired by many people and separate events. After following a particular artist for years, she asked him to create the cover art, loving his style of coloring outside of the lines–a style reminiscent of her story for creating this cookbook. The dominant colors of the cover were inspired by a garden that Neha visited in Marrakech, Morocco. And the name was inspired by a fellow traveler who crossed paths with Neha while also filling her passport with experiences. Every component of this book has a story like the one behind the cover art. Neha is the founder of FoodMoodz, LLC which is an online platform for foodies to share articles on the best eats, chef profiles, recipes, and food trends. Neha is also the founder of Global Foodie Citizen which is a community of foodies located all around the world! The vision for GFC is to offer an invite-only group of foodies who can connect to meet at exclusive restaurants and food experiences around the world.

Have you ever seen Matthew McConaughey’s Dallas Buyers Club, Netflix’s Beasts of No Nation, or Beyoncé‘s Lemonade video? Then you’re already familiar with our next guest’s work on films and television shows as a DGA 1st Assistant Director. Now Mark is ready for you to read his latest project. Mark wants you to send your taste buds around the world with easy-to-make rubs, blends, sauces, and pastes from Cooking with Spices. Knowing how to balance flavor and spice can transform a dish. But whether you’re looking to liven up what’s already in the refrigerator or trying something new, figuring out just the right blend of spices to use can be intimidating. Cooking with Spices is a comprehensive reference cookbook that explains the regional origins of spices from around the world and gives you easy-to-follow recipes for rubs, pastes, sauces, and blends. Cooking with Spices serves up recipes with a pinch of history to give your taste buds something to talk about. Be sure to follow Mark on social media:

LIVE this Sunday, February 25th at 635pm Small Bites with Glenn Gross and Derek Timm of Bluejeanfood.com on Wildfire Radio has as The Miz says an “AWESOME” lineup.

One of the hottest dining destinations in Philadelphia — visitphilly.com right now is I ♥East Passyunk Avenue. Well we have who knows all about the renaissance and what the future holds for this area as we welcome Pam Zenzola the Executive Director of East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District (EPABID). East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District is a non-profit organization dedicated to the revitalization of one of Philadelphia’s longest-standing commercial corridors. EPABID was established in 2002 and its Board of Directors meets regularly to oversee its programs, including capital and facade improvement projects, marketing and promotions, special events, business recruitment and retention, and clean and green initiatives. Located just a few minutes from Center City District of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. East Passyunk Avenue is home to over 150 independently owned businesses, ranging from unique boutiques offering hand-made wares and fashion to fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere and the world-famous “Cheesesteak Corner” of The Original Pat’s King of Steaks and Geno’s Steaks. One of other great dining destinations on Easy Passyunk is Chhaya Cafe and Chef/Owner Varnana Beuria will be joining us in studio. Chhaya Café opened in 2010 with a simple philosophy: provide delicious, uncomplicated food that comforts and delights. From couches, to window seats, to bar stools, every inch of Chhaya offers a unique vide so you can find the perfect nook or cranny just for you. They claim to offer more brew styles than any other coffee shop in Philadelphia. Also it is East Passyunk Restaurant Week 2018. Wow, what a treat and we can’t wait.

Then we welcome more of Philly’s greatness, with Philly’s very own ReubenBig RubeHarley Reuben Harley – A.K.A – “Big Rube”. His blog Big Rube ” Street Gazing”” at:

http://www.streetgazing.com/

is extremely popular. With his savvy eye and hip image mindset, he helped Mitchell & Ness become a global name by marketing the band as the fashion statement of stars from Mariah Carey to JAY-Z. He had a catering business and in 2013 he dwelled back in an old chapter and started doing Pop-ups at prominent restaurants in Philadelphia from Zavino Hospitality doing his Ground Turkey lasagna , to even his world famous Fried chicken and Waffles at Toast Philly, Vesper Sporting Club, and Saint Benjamin Brewing Company Tap and more and even winning competitions against seasoned chefs with his recipes. His style of cooking embarks that of southern flavors that fed plantations and Northeast estates passed down from generations to your mouth. Fashion and food, a perfect combo!

Then we have Izabella Brooks, the Brand Manager of Victoria Fine Foods. Victoria Fine Foods use only a handful of fresh wholesome ingredients without added sugar, water or preservatives. They were among the first to put their ingredients on the front of their labels, hence their tagline: “Ingredients Come First”. After hours of rushing, stressing, and worrying, they believe their taste transforms a simple meal into something relaxing and enjoyable. They use only the finest ingredients and slow kettle cooking process to give their pasta sauce an authentic homemade taste, so you don’t have to make it yourself. So take a ride with them; slow down, and taste what life has to offer. Good food tastes even better when you also do good deeds. Victoria Fine Foods is honored to help their New York City community by partnering with City Harvest, a local charity devoted to rescuing food to fight hunger in New York City.

Last, but certainly not least we welcome Nhan Truong the owner of brand new restaurant Viet Pho located in Deptford, New Jersey between Hobby Lobby and Ross Dress for Lessin The Court at Deptford shopping center by DLC Management Corp... Nhan is no stranger to the restaurant industry as she previously owned Viet Bistro in the Cumberland Mall in Vineland, NJ to rave reviews. The food was so impressive there, that NJ.com Peter Genovese stated “The ten best Jersey mall dishes in New Jersey: 1. Spicy lemongrass with chicken, Viet Bistro, Cumberland Mall, Vineland. The single best dish I ate. If only all mall food were like this. Viet Bistro is so good it made my list of N.J.’s 18 best restaurants.” What an honor and we can’t wait to have them in studio. You can read Peter Genovese entire article here:

Sugarpuddin’s – Clementon, NJ

Sugarpuddin’s – Clementon, NJ

If in the area, you should definitely stop by. The service here made the visit feel like you are a part of their family with free samples to try before ordering and a drink on the house while you wait for the food to get ready. This is what makes you remember a place and go back, and I will certainly stop by again. Pictured is full rack of Baby Back Ribs, pulled pork, french fries, baked beans, string beans, mac and cheese, and corn bread. It was all yummy.

Viet Pho – Deptford, NJ

Viet Pho – Deptford, NJ

What a great time here. They should be having their Grand Opening in about a week or two. The service was top notch and friendly, and the food here really compliments the Deptford Mall area with even more ethnic and food variety to choose from when visiting or shopping in and around South Jersey. I like how this area is now having a good mix of chain and independent restaurants again to appease all palates and needs. If you’re in the area and have a craving for Vietnamese, Viet Pho will certainly cure your need for a fix. Nhan Truong the owner of Viet Pho is no stranger to the restaurant industry as she previously owned Viet Bistro in the Cumberland Mall in Vineland, NJ that received many rave reviews until she sold the restaurant two years ago. Below are some pictures of the meal:

Thankfully the Eagles won; otherwise Philly may have turned towards the apocalypse. Wonder what that would look like? Well you can get a glimpse of what the post apocalypse city would have been like by going to Mad Rex– a meeting place, dining haven, and watering hole for revelers from “all walks of life.” -where SURVIVORS indulge in food + drink at an urban outpost. It’s an environment where patrons are encouraged to create their own “interactive rites” through virtual reality. Where despite the fallout there’s still a sense of food, culture, community and ART that still thrives. Visit a sanctuary where urbanites are encouraged to create & share their own experiences. Where the food is locally sourced, the cocktails surprise you, and you feel like this is the ultimate stop in the post apocalypse. Who ever thought the apocalypse would taste so great. They also have a VREX Lounge. Experience the virtual reality lounge (VREX) where patrons can escape the doldrums of normal life and immerse themselves in augmented reality. You can also reserve the more private Virtual Reality Chamber that comes equipped with a lounge throne, private locker, table service, and drinks served in an IV bag for easy handling. Mad Rex is the first restaurant to fully infuse VR technology into their concept in Philadelphia. A true experience to live for….Be a survivor!

Really nice tiny place. Homemade sauces, nice variety of menu, and service was top notch. Will be back here for sure! I had a half of their wood smoked chicken.

Brooklawn Diner & Restaurant – Brooklawn, NJ

This place is completely different from what the old Brooklawn Diner looked like, and I must admit, it looks a lot better. It’s typical Jersey Diner fare so no surprises here. I had vegetable soup, and main entrée of roasted turkey with gravy, apple sauce, and stewed baked zucchini. Everything was good, prices reasonable, and service was friendly.

No stranger to television, we are excited to talk to a culinary kid wizard Chef Elliott Wakefield who is appearing on the January 29th episode of Stove Tots a kids cooking competition on FYI Television Network with his mother. Hailing from McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania; Chef Elliott has been cooking since he was 3 years old. He also has appeared on Food Network show Chopped Junior episode “The Curd is the Word” with judges Billy Gardell, Chef Marcela Valladolid, and Geoffrey Zakarian. Chef Elliott was sous chef to Chef Justin Rexroad at Culinary Fight Club’s Boston event and then went on to win Amazing Culinary Fight Club Pantry Race – Kids Edition in Chicago this past September 2017. Before outgrowing his peanut allergy, Elliott’s food exploration was limited. To fill the void, his mother, Robin Hann Wakefield who also appears on Stove Tots with Chef Elliott and runs Facebook page The Food Hag, pulled him into the kitchen to educate him on the complex and wonderful ways he could enjoy the world at the same time being aware of his limitations regarding the allergy. At 8 years old Elliott out grew the allergy and has been making up for lost time. Elliott loves Asian fusion! His favorite hobby is traveling the country looking for uniquely tweaked dishes that push all boundaries of the culinary rules. Elliott transforms his travel experiences into his kitchen to create unique spins on dishes of his own and shares on all of this on his Facebook page Elliott Eats.
