I really enjoyed my meal here. This place is packed on a daily basis and there is a good reason why. They are putting out a great product with nice and personable service. The crab bisque was fantastic, sauteed mushrooms delectable, and prime rib a good size and value as well as steamed broccoli.

Paula Deen is known for Southern comfort food and really isn’t the typical person you would think of with lumberjacks. Well, she has expanded her empire into the world of logs and chainsaws. What is the gourmet food offered at the location? Hot Dogs of course! It was reasonably priced and a pretty good quick meal.

If you can’t find a flavor of popcorn you like here, then your tastebuds have to be broken. They have almost anything you can think of. Some great, some not so great, but maybe great to someone else. The Bourbon Street popcorn I chose was awesome and I could just eat handfuls of it all day long. They do ship if and when you want some so you do’t have to visit them in person. Give them a try.

Wyile Cider is on the grounds of Foxfire Mountain Adventure Park and it’s a match made in heaven. After a long day of outdoor fun you can relax at the cidery and they are happy to give plenty of sample for you to find the perfect beverage for you. This is their traditional soft cider and it is refreshing while tasting great.

What a treat this place was. I had their prime rib cheesesteak with fired onions, mushrooms, peppers, house cheese, and fries. This sandwich was so good I only wish they were closer as they could compete with any cheesesteak place in and around the Philadelphia area as it was better than the vast majority I eat around here. Highly recommended to visit if around the area. It was cooked perfectly.

Biltmore, America’s Largest Home, built by George Vanderbilt on an 8000-acre estate in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Asheville, NC is as fancy as you can get. So why not go all out and enjoy the fanciest of foods – the hot dog!. It was delicious and I really enjoyed it. A perfect treat for a great place to visit.

A newcomer to the always evolving dining scene in Collingswood is Albertino’s by the way of South Philly and a short stint in Berlin, NJ. They are completely family run establishment with everyone getting involved one way or another. The ambiance is low-key, yet welcoming. Service made you feel like you were a part of the family and dining at their own home being pleasant and friendly. Their was a tiny hiccup with timing from the kitchen as it seemed to be an hour or even longer from appetizer to main course being served with only two parties dining in the restaurant at the time so the wait wasn’t due to an influx of orders. The appetizer was Gamberi e Calamari Rustico – jumbo shrimp, calamari, black olives, plum tomato sauce, calabrian chile, white wine that was average in my opinion. Even though there was a long wait for the entree of Vitello di Albertino – thinly pounded domestic milk-fed, artichoke hearts, sun-dried tomatoes, jumbo lump crab, demi glace, white wine, light cream it was a delicious treat and definitely recommend the dish for anyone that visits. I would give Albertino’s another try as I am interested to try more of the menu to see if they could become one of my regular destinations.

Jargon sits in West Asheville area and it is like a copy of walking through Fishtown Philadelphia. Such cool places to shop and eat and the vibe very chill. The food was delicious and service was top notch during my visit. Started things out with their version of Jean-Claude Van Damme food having Mussels and Brussels. PEI mussels with ramp tops, spring onion, tasso, and fennel broth and crispy brussels sprouts with pickled carrots, country ham, and apple butter. Main course was North Carolina trout with rapini, caramelized fennel puree, fingerling chips, beurre blanc, and braised short rib with goat chese polenta, Mars Hill mushrooms, wilted greens, and natural jus.

Last but certainly not least, Richard Massi the President and Co-Founder of Fight On Makenna Foundation will tell us about the 2021 Bite for the Fight Food Festival happening on Saturday, September 25th. The Fight on Makenna Foundation was created in the memory of his 14 year old daughter Makenna who lost her battle with leukemia in September 2018. The Fight on Makenna Foundation’s mission is to improve the quality of life for kids and families facing pediatric cancer. In their two short years of existence, they have raised over $200K to help fund programs in partnership with Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to help kids and families as they deal with the rigors of cancer treatments. Makenna was a foodie (mostly carnivore) and loved friends, family, the Food Network, and the Philadelphia Eagles. So they created Bite for the Fight to showcase some of the best food, beer, wine, and spirits in the Philadelphia Area. Makenna was a fighter to the end of her short life and they brought that competitive spirit to the festival by allowing the restaurants to compete for the honor of the Best Bite voted on by the patrons of the festival. The 2019 event was even attended by Chef Robert Irvine.

I’m am usually very biased about pizza outside of the Philadelphia/South Jersey region. It’s just the style I am used to and like. Let me tell you though, that this pizza was amazing! Really enjoyed it. It was perfect in every way and just delicious. You really have to give this place a try if in the area.
