I recently spent a day there exploring some of the best food the town has to offer, and let me tell you, it was a feast for the senses. From savory, char-grilled meats at a churrascaria to refreshing milkshakes and bagels, Flemington is a food lover’s dream. Here’s a rundown of my delicious adventure through this charming town.

If you’re unfamiliar with churrascaria, think of it as a casual, meat-lover’s paradise where the focus is on perfectly cooked grilled meat. This informal yet inviting spot is a must-visit for anyone craving robust flavors and a true taste of Portuguese grilling.
I kicked off my meal with Clams A Bulhao Pato, a Portuguese classic that’s as simple as it is flavorful. The clams are prepared in a rich broth of olive oil, wine, garlic, and fresh cilantro — the perfect combination of savory and aromatic. The clams were tender and absorbed all the wonderful flavors from the sauce.
Then came the pork skewers, grilled to perfection. The meat was juicy, flavorful, and wonderfully charred on the outside. But the real showstopper for me was the Hawaiian pork BBQ, which came with a side of rice and sautéed veggies. The pork had a perfect balance of smoky sweetness from the BBQ glaze, and the rice and veggies were a satisfying complement to the rich flavors. I washed it all down with a refreshing Guaraná Antarctica soda, a popular Brazilian soft drink made from the guaraná fruit, which added a nice, crisp finish to the meal.

I decided to go with the Beef Basil Fried Rice, a classic Thai dish that never disappoints. The beef was tender, and the basil was aromatic, adding that signature herbal kick that makes Thai food so unique. The fried rice had the perfect balance of flavors — salty, savory, and a hint of spice that gave it just the right amount of heat.
Next, I dove into the Beef Pad See Ew, another Thai favorite. The wide rice noodles were stir-fried to perfection with savory beef, egg, and vegetables, all coated in a sweet soy sauce. The dish was hearty and satisfying, with just the right amount of char on the noodles, which added a nice smoky flavor. If you’re a fan of Thai cuisine, Savory Thai is a solid choice in Flemington, and everything I tried was excellent.
Mel’s Bagel & Deli: The Classic Pork Roll, Egg & Cheese

The pork roll was perfectly crispy around the edges, the egg was cooked just right, and the cheese added that extra layer of flavor. The onion bagel tied it all together, giving the sandwich an added depth of flavor with each bite. It’s the kind of breakfast that hits the spot — savory, comforting, and just the right amount of indulgent.
Thee Ice Cream Parlor: Sweet Endings

I had to round out the day with something sweet, so I stopped by Thee Ice Cream Parlor. I opted for their pistachio milkshake and vanilla milkshake, both of which were absolute perfection. The pistachio milkshake was rich, creamy, and packed with a natural pistachio flavor, while the vanilla milkshake was smooth, sweet, and nostalgic. They were the perfect cool, refreshing treat after all the savory bites I’d enjoyed earlier in the day.
Flemington, NJ, may be a small town, but its food scene is anything but ordinary.
