Eagle Beach – Aruba

Eagle Beach – Aruba

#SmallBitesRadio has been named #14 Top Hospitality Shows on the Planet for 2020, 2021, and 2022 as well as #Bluejeanfood.com being named #18 Top Philadelphia Lifestyle Blogs, Websites & Influencers of 2021 and 2022.

The Eagle Beach area of Aruba has constantly been named one of the 10 top beaches in the world. There is a good reason why. It is just flat out gorgeous and has to be seen in person to be truly appreciated. The white sand just massages your feet while you walk on it and the warm turquoise clear and calm water is like none other.

An important question to ask when going there is where should you eat? Well below are a few meals that I enjoyed during my time in and around the area.

Así Es Mi Peru – Aruba

The vibe here is chill and the food is wonderful. You should give them a visit for sure when on the island. One of the best meals while I was there. I enjoyed their Trilogia de Causa, Mixto Ceviche, and Carapulca Chinchana.

Daily Fish – Aruba

This place is tiny, yet powerful. Lots of fresh fish caught locally with a decent menu of things you can get directly cooked by them. I had their version of Fish and Chips and it was delightful and you should try too. Perfect location if you need seafood to take to cook yourself or have them do it for you.

Red Fish – Aruba

The service here was one of the most enjoyable on the island. Our server joked with us the entire time and made my son feel like a million dollars treating him like royalty. The best part was the food was fantastic as well. I had their fish soup, calamari, and red snapper platter.

Las Ramblas – Aruba

Dining here provides the perfect opportunity to enjoy a beautiful sunset while enjoying your meal. If you’re lucky you just might be treated to a nice live acoustical music set during your visit like I was. The service is top notch and meal was really nice as well. I enjoyed grilled calamari, Lobster Bisque, Escargots à la Bourguignonne, Jumbo Caribbean shrimp in a curry sauce with sauteed veggies and rice, and carrot cake.

Aruba Ostrich Farm – Aruba

Now this place is just flat out fun! Very educational tour on Ostrich’s, but surprisingly they offer an entire menu of varied and interesting things to eat here during an UTV Tour from El Tours. You have to give advance notice if you wanted to try something ostrich related, but they were able to quickly cook up a fabulous beef empanada that you really should get and a croquette for a nice snack.

Passions On The Beach – Aruba

You can’t get any closer to the water unless you get in it. This place is a haven to relax beachfront and have a good meal. Enjoyed their Ginger Pumpkin Soup and Angus Beef Cheeseburger with fries.

Gelateria Italiana – Aruba

Tucked hidden inside a resort complex is this gem to cool off from the hot sun. Laura Iannizzi’s dessert haven is the perfect place to relax and re-energize yourself with a treat of yummy gelato or any other delight from their large selection of pastries, pies, and cakes. I really enjoyed their pistachio flavor.

Sbarro Pizza at La Cabana – Aruba

What tops relaxing at the ocean? Relaxing at the ocean while getting a pizza delivered right to you on the beach. Sbarro Pizza at La Cabana has an attendant comb Eagle Beach taking orders and bringing your food right to you. It was delightful and the server was working hard and as pleasant as could be.

Panda Express – Airport – Aruba

This little outpost of Panda Express had nice fresh food and at a good price point especially for being in an airport.

Uncle Tony’s at Eagle Aruba Resort and Casino – Aruba

Last, but certainly not least is this destination. Uncle Tony’s offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Below are their breakfast and lunch offerings which were generous in portion size and delicious. The restaurant is situated in the heart of Eagle Aruba Resort and Casino which is a beautiful property with every amenity you can want or think of. We stayed in their 3 Bedroom Penthouse which was luxurious, modern, clean, and spacious. I highly recommend a stay here! More info here:

This place is GREAT! Old-school feel and menu with amazing Americana food to go with it and a good price point for everything. I had the The Cowboy Burger – Bacon, BBQ sauce & fried onions topped with cheddar/jack cheese blend, Chili Cheese Dog that was down right delicious, onion rings, and fries. If in the area you should really stop by.

If you are around the Haddon Township area and want an elevated cheesesteak experience Dar’s Steaks is a good choice. They are better than your average pizza place’s regular cheesesteak. The old bay fries with their house-made wiz were really good and the house-made wiz was a good addition to the cheesesteak as well.

D and L Coffee Service Inc. presents Small Bites Radio the #1 listed “Food Radio show Philadelphia” and #1 listed “Food Radio show South Jersey”. Small Bites on Wildfire Radio returns this Sunday, January 23rd at 635pm EST with a fantastic lineup! #SmallBitesRadio has been named #14 out of the Top 30 Best Hospitality Shows on the planet for 2020 and 2021 as well as being named #23 Top Philadelphia Lifestyle Influencer in 2021.

We are thrilled to welcome Sammy Moniz who has close to half a million followers on popular Instagram page @feedingthefrasers, is well known in the CrossFit community as an activist, and she is also the wife of five time champion Mat Fraser, the winningest athlete in CrossFit history and one of the most beloved. She will talk about her forthcoming cookbook ‘Feeding The Frasers: Family Favorite Recipes Made to Feed the Five-Time CrossFit Games Champion, Mat Fraser’ from St. Martin’s Press Griffin Macmillan Publishers available for preorder and being released on February 22nd. Feeding the Frasers is a book that any CrossFit aficionado—or just someone curious about how to cook with whole foods without sacrificing the world—will want to get their hands on. It is filled with 100 terrific recipes of high quality delicious food that promote balance, togetherness, indulgence, athletic recovery, and where she shares the secrets behind feeding the greatest champion of the sport.

Also joining us will be Chef Jezabel Careaga the next participant from January 26 to March 13, 2022 in The Kimmel Cultural Campus Volvér’s Chefs in Residency program that throughout each residency raises funds with financial assistance from Chef Jose Garces’s Garces Family Foundation to support the inaugural line-up of chefs and their current and/or future projects. Careaga is an entrepreneur, chef, woodworker, designer, and community leader from Palpalá, Jujuy, NW Argentina. In addition to her degree in Tourism & Hotel Management focusing on international languages and business, she received a progressive education encompassing climate change, sustainability, and mental health – issues that she cares about deeply today. After a formative work experience in an 800-room hotel in Miami, she moved to Philadelphia to start her own business. In 2010 she opened Jezabel’s with a mission to offer a welcoming and delicious NW Argentine experience while prioritizing environmental sustainability, community growth, and financial stability. In 2018 Jezabel’s relocated to West Philadelphia and expanded her offerings to include cooking classes and special events. Her latest venture is L’Atelier where her furniture designs and handiwork are showcased among a selection of artisan home goods. Over the last ten years, Jezabel’s has become a staple in Philly’s dining scene and her empanadas, alfajores, and a multitude of Argentine-style pastries have received critical acclaim and widespread popularity. Donations during her Chefs in Residency program will support the initiatives of Fuerza for Humans, a non-profit focusing on mental health for the restaurant community.

Then Jackie “The Joke Man” Martling, the man who has remembered every one-line joke since the age of eight joins us live as he is cooking up something special. Not only will he mention his famous Jokeland Stroganoff, but he has a documentary film by Ian Karr IKA Collective being released. The documentary can be seen on February, 12th – 8pm at Chappaqua Performing Arts Center. You can see the film to learn the story which is fascinating, funny, and surprising about one of America’s last great joke tellers that combined with his lightning fast wit and infectious laugh helps us belly laugh at ourselves with a kindness and sincerity that defuses his unfiltered punch lines in an age of political correctness. By attending you’ll also then have the opportunity afterwards for questions, answers, and jokes with star of the film Jackie Martling himself.

Last, but certainly not least on the program will be Mark Matthews the Founder of one of South Jersey’s most popular blogs 42 Freeway that has hundreds of thousands of views monthly to talk about the always changing foodie and real estate landscape. 42 Freeway is often the first media outlet to break groundbreaking news around the area that no one else has reported. Be sure to hear what is happening in and around South Jersey.

With a retro warehouse feel on the inside is Kim Sum. The service was friendly and quick. Had the shrimp dumpling, roast pork bun, roast pork fried rice, scallop and shrimp with ginger with veggies, pork with ginger and scallions, and short ribs. Everything was pretty good. I would be interested to try other things on the menu if in the area again.

Who doesn’t love pizza? Head Chef Francisco Migoya of the Modernist Cuisine team will join us to talk about their new book ‘Modernist Pizza’ from The Cooking Lab. Spanning 1,708 pages, including three volumes plus a recipe manual, Modernist Pizza is much more than a cookbook: it’s an indispensable resource for anyone who not only loves to eat pizza but is also interested in the science, stories, cultures, and history behind it. Each gorgeously illustrated chapter examines a different aspect of pizza, from its history and top travel destinations to dough, sauce, cheese, toppings, equipment, and more. The team has included a travel chapter with guides to can’t-miss pizzerias in top pizza destinations such as Naples, Rome, São Paulo, Buenos Aires, and Tokyo as well as cities across the US, like New York City, Chicago, Detroit, Portland, and more.

Cassy Joy Garcia the creative force behind the popular food blog Fed and Fit will chat about her new book ‘Cook Once Dinner Fix: Quick and Exciting Ways to Transform Tonight’s Dinner into Tomorrow’s Feast’ from Simon & Schuster. As a busy mom of two, Cassy Joy Garcia, the best-selling author of Cook Once, Eat All Week, has limited time to get food on the table. With this book, she shares a fresh approach to preparing dinner in a hurry. These 120 easy, delicious recipes are designed to use the leftovers from one recipe to quickly cook a completely different meal the next day. The Cook Once Dinner Fix solves the “what’s for dinner” question without requiring enormous amounts of time, energy, skill, or money. Now dinnertime can be fun, fast, affordable, and sustainable.

Zoë François (now host of ZoëBakes on the Magnolia Network) and Jeff Hertzberg’s latest book ‘The Best of Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day: Favorite Recipes from BreadIn5’ from St. Martin’s Press with a foreword by Andrew Zimmern. Jeff will talk to us about how people want to bake their own bread, so long as they can do it easily and quickly. But with five very different “Bread in Five” books to choose from, bakers have been asking: “Which one should I get if I want a little of everything: the best of European and American classics, whole-grain recipes, pizza and flatbread, gluten-free, sourdough, and loaves enriched with eggs and butter?” With The Best of Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day, Jeff and Zoë have chosen their absolute favorite 80 recipes from all five of their books, bringing them together into a single volume that is the only bread book a baker needs and will make everyone a baker―with only five minutes a day of active preparation time.

We are pleased to announce that Philadelphia’s crown jewel venue of arts and culture The Kimmel Cultural Campus has finally reopened. We are thrilled that we will get to talk to the first resident of Volver from October 6 to November 28, 2021, Chef Kiki Aranita the Co-Owner/Operator of Poi Dog Philly in Philadelphia, PA. After gaining her experience in various restaurants and food trucks, Aranita wanted to share her experiences of what people eat in her hometown of Hawaii, to the city of Philly. Along with the food of Hawaii, Aranita has taught classes on Hawaii’s culture at Penn Museum and recipe development at the university level. Then we will be joined by White Dog Cafe Wayne’s Chef du Cuisine Josh White. White Dog Cafe locations in Haverford and Wayne are partnering with Martha’s Choice Marketplace sponsored by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, the most visited food pantry in Montgomery County, to celebrate National Potato Day, October 27, 2021, and to bring awareness to the need to build communities through access to healthy food. Martha’s Community Farm in Audubon where produce including potatoes are grown in a partnership with Garden of Health distributes fresh produce and food free of the top eight allergens to food pantries, low-income senior housing and community groups in Montgomery and Bucks Counties in Pennsylvania. Martha’s Community Farm started in February 2021 and seeks to build upon the community-building principles that drive their Choice Marketplace, in an effort to form partnerships in growing food for Martha’s and the many pantries of Montgomery County. Working alongside partners such as the Penn State Master Gardeners, Garden of Health, HopeWorx, ACLAMO, and The Villanova MBA program, among others, they are bringing together volunteers and partners from across Montgomery County to grow culturally appropriate foods that better meet the variety of needs their clients face. They are not simply growing food, they are growing community!

The Manor has been a community space where people have gathered to drink, eat, and socialize for more than 50 years. They’re a family-owned and operated business that reopened the Manor in 2016.

Last, but certainly not least we will be joined by author Bridget Thoreson of ‘The Unofficial Hocus Pocus Cookbook: Bewitch-ingly Delicious Recipes for Fans of the Halloween Classic’ from Ulysses Press. It is the ultimate must-have for fans of all ages—but don’t worry, no children were harmed in the test of these recipes. Inside you’ll find frightfully delicious recipes.
