This laid back country drinking hole hits the spot with bbq themed tavern fair. I had the Hickory Smoked Prime Rib Cheesesteak Melt topped with caramelized onion, mushroom, melted cheddar jack cheese, and creamy horseradish sauce and served hot on a toasted brioche bun with house fried chips and an order of pulled pork as well with applesauce.

Vassi’s Drive-In – Hellertown, PA

This place is as old-school Americana as it gets. Close to Lost River Caverns it makes for a nice pit-stop along the way and the food was awesome. Great greasy burger and Jersey dog were just fantastic. Highly recommended and the fries were good too, but sadly didn’t get in the picture.

What a joy and great meal here. This is a perfect example of don’t judge a book by its cover as I know the pictures look terrible. Don’t trust the pictures. The food was great. The Lobster Bisque was amazing, 1/2 LB. Old Bay Poached Peel & Eat Shrimp were so good, Steamed Clams with celery, shallot, butter, and then Pan Seared Scallops with cauliflower puree, candied bacon lardons, caramelized walnuts, pomegranate seeds, warm maple bacon thyme vinaigrette.

Hidden off the main drag of Route 130 North sits Chez Rodine. Just because you can’t see them, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t go there. I had the large jerk chicken and it was delicious. They couldn’t have been more pleasant and food was great. Be sure to check them out.

At Zimmerman’s Country Market you can do all of the above, but they also bake their own breads and make apple cider doughnuts. The doughnuts are really good, so even if you aren’t interested in any plants or don’t have a green thumb it is worth a trip for a tasty treat if you are in the area.

An old school Inn most known as M.R.I for their Mount Royal Famous Wings that has won awards and acclaim such as some of the best wings in New Jersey, South Jersey, and Gloucester County. So they have won at every level from city to state. Their is a good reason why. Sauce is boss on wings most times and the sauce here is awesome. Highly recommend a visit.

Sometimes it is nice to step back in the past. Hemingway’s is one of those places to give you comfort knowing when you order a prime rib, you get the exact type you want that has been served forever. Nothing new needs to happen. Just delicious as it is in its 14 oz of beefy glory with a really good french onion soup and sides of mashed potatoes and string beans.

With takeout only parking near the front door that someone will come out to your car and personally deliver your order Cinder Bar is a touch above most take-out options in that regard. They have a very varied menu and I went with the Kennett Square Pizza with roasted wild mushroom blend, shallots, garlic oil, fontina, smoked mozzarella, manchego. The mushrooms really shined and were delicious with plenty of cheese on the pie.
