This place has so many interesting and different flavors not seen in many other places. It was hard to choose, but I went with the Cumin Flavor Beef. It was a tad spicy with a combination of spices and chili peppers in the perfect combination. The meat was not fatty at all and each bite was tender with fresh veggies to enjoy. The lunch special also came with wonton soup that was better than your average version. I will try some more items on the menu next time in the area.

Whenever I hear announcements from Trenton, New Jersey my first thought is the addition of some new property tax or other bit of bad news. It’s not often I get excited about the things going on or coming out of Trenton. Well 1911 Smoke House and Chef/Owner Reggie Hallett has changed that thought drastically for me. This place is a gem and is the best thing going on there possibly since the pork roll industry. They need to be recognized not only because they are serving delicious food, but also due to their ridiculously budget friendly prices while everything else around us has exploded in cost. Their description on Google is spot on ‘Down-to-earth staple for smoked meats, with patio seating, sports on TV & a bar’. I went with their half portion of ‘Try a lil bit of everything’ which was a half rack of ribs, brisket, half a chicken, corn bread, mac & cheese, and collard greens as well as a small order of smoked and grilled wings with habanero mango sauce all for less than $40. Just crazy prices for good food these days! Everything was wonderful and really high quality. The chicken options really stood out as the half chicken and wings were so plump, juicy, seasoned well, and very flavorful. The other items weren’t far behind. The ribs were moist and tender, the brisket was spot on yummy, mac & cheese old school greatness, collard greens not hard at all and filled with flavor, and cornbread just a delight. I also enjoyed trying all of their different sauce options. This spot needs to be celebrated. The good news is that they have expanded into Terminal A at Newark Liberty International Airport with an eighty seat restaurant and twenty-four person bar available to dine at for travelers around the world to experience how good New Jersey BBQ can and should be and the statement ‘Trenton Makes, the World Takes’ is in good hands again. I may have been slow to recognize and become aware of the 1911 Smoke House, but whenever I’m in the area again they can certainly expect to see me.

I have never seen even a single episode of ‘The Office’. After visiting Scranton, PA that will probably change. The downtown area of Scranton is extremely charming with lots of boutique shops, museums, things to do, wonderful spa at Alexander’s Salon & Spa, and VERY delicious places to eat around every corner. I highly recommend a visit. For those seeking outdoor adventure during your stay, Montage Mountain is conveniently located just 10 minutes away. It truly is the best of both worlds.
Bartari – Scranton, PA
This place is just a fun time serving delicious food. If you can’t enjoy yourself here you just may not be able to enjoy yourself anywhere. I had the Panko Crusted Zucchini Planks with Parmesan and Marinara, and Fried Chicken & Waffle with Crispy Boneless Dark Meat, Buttermilk Waffle, Hot Honey Drizzle, and Maple Syrup. Both were fantastic.
The Original Coney Island of Scranton -100 Cedar Ave – Scranton, PA
This place is about as old school as you can get. Love the ambiance and feel of the place, and better yet they are serving awesome Texas Wieners and Texas Cheeseburgers. The gravy fries were decent, but if they served shoestring fries or fresh cut fries with the gravy I wouldn’t ever leave. Worth a visit for sure!
The 16th Ward – Scranton, PA
This is a cool get together destination with a well curated drink menu, nice vibe, innovative menu, and everything was tasty. I had their Toby Goes West drink that went down smooth, Russian style dumplings were so yummy, and balsamic beef grilled cheese with fries. Great place to chill while enjoying good food.
Cooper’s Seafood House – Scranton, PA
You could spend all day here just walking around the restaurant as it is a mix of an antique store/history museum. It is an experience to dine here and every seat and inch of the place is a feast for the eyes. The best part is that the food is really good here too. I enjoyed their Maryland Crab Bisque, Shark Bites that come with a cool pin for those trying shark for the first time, Rhode Island Little Neck Clams, and a Crab Cake Sandwich with fries.
The Railyard Restaurant & Bar – Scranton, PA
This place offers elevated pub food with friendly service and a neighborhood hangout feel. I did have an issue with my meal, but they went far above and beyond to correct it, send it out again, and an offer of free dessert that I couldn’t accept as I was so full and couldn’t eat another bite. They did exactly what any decent and respectable establishment should, and it made the bump in the road into a positive experience. Job well done! I enjoyed their fried pickles, house made chicken tenders and fries, and strip steak entree. Everything was delicious and I left happy.
Carmen’s 2.0 Restaurant & World Tour – Scranton, PA
Situated inside the Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel, dining here is just breathtakingly beautiful. Even better was the food was good too. I had their cannoli french toast that is like a decadent dessert to start your day. This is a must visit for anyone visiting Scranton just for the view.
Casey’s Corner – Sranton, PA
Located inside Hilton Downtown Scranton Hotel and Conference Center is Casey’s Corner. It was a good breakfast buffet, but the real attraction is Chef Carl. He makes everyone feel welcome, funny, and willing to make sure everything is how you want it. You can feel his passion and dedication and it was great to meet him.
Thai Rak Thai – Scranton, PA
This is a large restaurant, but they are only take-out during my visit. With the looks of things the dining room won’t be opening back up anytime soon as they had full tables throughout the place labeled with different food delivery service providers with bags of food waiting to be picked up and delivered. I had their Thai Dumplings, Thai Buffalo Wings, and pork Pad See Aew. I would be interested to try some other items on their menu to see what their best dish is.

This place is gigantic and has a little something for everyone. Also the sheer amount of choices is endless and the price point to enjoy as much as you can eat can’t be beat. Everything I had was good and it was a good deal for the quality provided. From hibachi, sushi, Chinese food, American food, crawfish, dessert, etc. I tried it all. Also no wait at all. Be shown where you’re going to sit and then you can off to the races to enjoy as much as your heart desires. When in the area I would happily go back.

Driving along 322 you can easily drive past Damask’s Candies among the enormous warehouses and business centers surrounding them. It is well worth paying attention though as delicious treats await you inside. Shown is a variety of their offerings and if you’re in the area you should give them a try.

Many people consider Duffy’s Fine Chocolates to have one of the best Milk Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel around the Philadelphia area. The good news about Duffy’s is that no matter where you live you can order online and get their candies shipped to you. Their prices are reasonable, service fantastic, and candies are yummy.

The big game is here this week and what is the big food to enjoy? Wings of course. You don’t want just regular or sub-standard wings for your viewing party. You want something that will wow the crowd. Well that’s where The Jug Handle Inn comes in. Not only can you get delicious wings, you can get awesome sandwiches as well. I enjoyed everything about The Jug Handle Inn. From the ease of ordering online, to the friendly service when picking up, to how great the food was this place is the real deal. The wings were great and I had the Tony Bruno Sauce (honey Bbq and Medium Garlic) on them which was so yummy, but the big surprise came from how much I enjoyed the Hot Roast Beef with their own ‘jug made’ top sirloin served with au jus and horseradish on a kaiser roll with homemade chips. As it says on their menu it was indeed AWESOME! The au jus was just a delight. So if you want to score a touchdown this Sunday, be sure to order some wings and a roast beef sandwich from here.

This isn’t somewhere you hear about often, but let me tell you they served me a really nice burger and delicious wings. They are a chain, but if you aren’t aware of them or haven’t been to one lately you might want to check them out. I had their Whiskey burger on brioche Bun, white American, onion strips, chipotle aioli, and whiskey bbq sauce with fries. The burger was good, but I highly recommend their mango habanero naked wings cooked lightly as they were fantastic. Everything was far above average and it was very affordable for the quality they provided. The interior is slick and modern, service was quick and friendly, and online ordering with them was seamless.

Hidden inside an old strip mall area and in the corner of the parking lot sits Osteria 545. You have to be looking for them to find them. Once there though the service was friendly and the food pretty good. I enjoyed their chicken parmigiana with linguine. It was better than average and cooked nicely. The gravy was sweet and the chicken was moist. Would be interested to try some other menu items to see if they would be added to my list of places that I would frequent if in the area. Have you been there? What have you had and enjoyed?

Looking to begin 2023 with a bang food wise? Well look no further than Lillo’s. This place is the real deal. Everything I had was hands down amazing and delicious. Most places do one thing and do that one thing well. Lillo’s is excelling on multiple fronts. I had their Trenton Tomato Pie, Cheesesteak with fried onions, Garlic Knot Chicken Parm, and Meatball Sandwich. Everything was top notch, service quick and friendly, and prices good for the quality of food. They were beloved by many in 2022 and I don’t see why they won’t continue to be a powerhouse for years to come as they are a great way to start 2023.
