The movie ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ truly put Bali on the map for many people around the world. You can feel the spirituality almost everywhere you go. It’s stunningly beautiful throughout. Everyone is friendly and helpful. That’s all fine and good, but what about the food? Well you rest your weary jag-lagged head when you arrive and know that there isn’t a lack of delicious food no matter where you visit on the island.
Kuta Social Club – Rooftop of Mamaka by Ovolo – Kuta, Bali
On the rooftop of Mamaka by Ovolo is Kuta Social Club overlooking the famous surfer paradise Kuta Beach. Not only is the view amazing, but the food was fantastic as well. I had the fresh caught grilled calamari, grilled king prawns, and grilled veggies. Mamaka is such a cool place and the vibe is truly #GoodVibrations as they state.
Seafood House Restaurant – Kuta, Bali
How can you not love a restaurant where you chose the actual food from a fresh fish tank that you’ll eat? That’s exactly what you do at Seafood House. You order your food and then head to the tank to pick the one you want them to cook. The asari clams sauteed with Kamheong Sauce were out of this world awesome, grilled lobster with salt, pepper, and garlic was top notch, and the fried noodles with roast duck were divine. Highly recommend a visit here.
Warung Nenas – Kuta, Bali
The street to get here is about the size of an alleyway, but worth the hassle to enjoy a great meal. I had their beef rendang and chicken satay with a fresh squeezed watermelon drink. You should give them a try too.
Sate Babi Bli Nyoman – Kuta, Bali
You HAVE to visit this vendor at Kuta Beach. You can google Pork satay bli nyoman and get the area where they should be. For just over $1 you will enjoy some of the finest grilled meat you’ll ever eat anywhere. The special is pork satay and it is truly magical. A must when in Kuta.
Warung Kampung – Legian, Bali
How they describe themselves on their menu is perfect. Warung Kampung is a small restaurant that provides traditional Indonesian cuisine with a very cheap price, but it tastes very good with a taste of home cooking. I couldn’t say it better myself. You have to find them hidden off the main road, but the search is well worth it. I had the Ayam Goreng Masak Kecap and Nasi Goreng with fresh banana juice made there. Everything was so flavorful and yummy. A great find and visit.
Warung Muslim Madura Indonesian Food – Sanur Night Market – Sanur, Bali
Night markets are where you can find some great deals and interesting foods sometimes not found elsewhere. At this night market the place to try was Warung Madura and for good reason. I had the satay kambing and gule kambing with white rice. Everything was popping with spices and flavor and very good. Couldn’t beat the prices either. If in this area of Bali this food stall is a good find.
WOK BOYZ Nasi Goreng Pantai – Kuta, Bali
Hidden in the back of a parking lot is Wok Boyz and it’s well worth your time to find them. The rice is awesome and some dishes are less than $1. They happily will describe every dish to you and whip up your meal fresh in minutes. This is a great find and you should try them.
D Alas Warung – Ubud, Bali
This place is so serene and beautiful. You enjoy your meal with amazing views in every direction you look. Best part is the food was really good too. I had their Nasi Campur dish and enjoyed everything.
Kuta Smash Burger – Kuta, Bali
Burgers are not what comes to mind when thinking of Balinese food, yet slightly off the main road from Kuta Beach is a repurposed shipping cargo container where Kuta Smash Burger can be found. I had the smash cheeseburger with fried onions and fries and it was actually really good. Definitely worth a visit.
Street 32 Cocktail Bar & Eatery – Kuta, Bali
This place is fantastic for people watching while enjoying your meal. I had their street food fest that was a little bit of everything for dinner one night. I also enjoyed a fabulous breakfast here multiple times during my stay in Bali. You won’t be disappointed dining here.
BingBong Bali – Kuta, Bali
If you look on social media this place serves crazy huge servings of ice cream with candy and chocolate as well as anything else you mind might think of. I wasn’t in the mood to sit down and wanted to enjoy something on the go so I just had a vanilla milkshake. Seeing the wild creations is half the fun while visiting here even if you aren’t eating them.
