Italian Affair – Glassboro, NJ

Italian Affair is a large building with a different style in each room. They are putting out the classic dishes with a few twists here and there. I had pasta e fagioli, wild boar ragu, and homemade vanilla gelato. They have a very strong fan base and followers so they are doing something right.  Ever been here? Let me know your thoughts on social media of what you had and your experience.

If you’re craving a pupusas or some El Salvadorian food look no further. This place is top notch. I had the Chicharron Con Queso that was really good, fajita mix with rice, beans, pico de gallo, and tortilla that was amazing, and Jugo de fruta that went down smooth and was fantastic with real pieces of fruit.

Mike’s BBQ – Philadelphia, PA

Mike’s BBQ – Philadelphia, PA

#SmallBitesRadio has been named #14 out of Top 30 Best Hospitality Shows on the planet for 2020. We are thrilled about the news.

Michael Strauss has been serving his style of BBQ to his friends and family for years. After opening a successful gastropub in South Philly, he started serving samples of his BBQ to his guests, who clamored for more!  With years of practice under his belt, and apprenticeships near and far, he drove to Georgia and picked up a Lang Smoker! The Lang smoker is an old school style “stick smoker”.

Well I can attest that this old school style smoker is putting out some fabulous BBQ. After many years of the Philadelphia area being a barbecue desert, I am happy to see so many choices for good quality BBQ now. The full rack of ribs were cooked beautifully and tasted great dipping them into their homemade sauce and the wings were seasoned nice with every bite being juicy.

Famous Sgt. Bob Smoke Filipino BBQ and Grill – Pennsville, NJ

#SmallBitesRadio has been named #14 out of Top 30 Best Hospitality Shows on the planet for 2020. We are thrilled about the news.

Let me start this post by apologizing to Famous Sgt. Bob Smoke Filipino BBQ and Grill for the terrible photo I have posted in regards to the food I had. This photo makes an amazing meal look average. This is one of those times not to believe what you see.

It’s far and few between that a restaurant surprises and impresses me. Let me go on the record and say that Famous Sgt. Bob Smoke Filipino BBQ and Grill in Pennsville, NJ did both. During these trying times it is harder than ever to go above and beyond. They did it seamlessly as they spotted I was a new customer and made sure I had a sample taste of everything they offer and welcomed me warmly. What they are offering is fantastic food, very generous portion sizes, making you feel at home, and doing it all at a reasonable price point.

The menu is varied with bbq, grilled, and Filipino specialties. I had the brisket sandwich, 2 pork kabobs, 2 chicken kabobs, grilled chicken platter with garlic rice, and Filipino chicken adobo with pancit noodles. Absolutely every bite was amazing from everything. This is one of those times when I can’t really say to have one thing over another. They were all great. To top it all off they are just a short drive away from Riverview Beach Park where you can enjoy your meal at a picnic table over looking the Delaware River making it a perfect meal to have on a day with good weather. This place is a gem in South Jersey and anyone who calls themselves a foodie really needs to give this place a try.

We are thrilled about the news. We welcome Ronny Joseph Lvovski the creator of the popular Primal Gourmet blog with over 1.5 million views, over 200,000 Instagram followers and now the author of “The Primal Gourmet Cookbook: Whole30 Endorsed: It’s Not a Diet If It’s Delicious” from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. Once he eliminated grains and dairy from his diet, his allergies, asthma, upset stomachs, headaches, back pain, lethargy, excess weight, and cravings disappeared. He shared those recipes on his Primal Gourmet blog, and became one of the most popular contributors to the Whole30 Recipes Instagram account. Then sit back and enjoy a nice cup of coffee while we talk to Jeff Lincoln the founder of Passero’s Coffee Roasters a family-run business that has been serving the Philadelphia region for more than 30 years that started in SEPTA – iseptaphilly.com Suburban Station Station Shops. They have been named “Best of Philly” in Philadelphia Magazine blind tasting championship, have a roasting facility in North Philadelphia, and was named one of Philadelphia’s Top 5 coffee shops on Yelp.

To spice things up and to get us fired up while we talk to him will be Ross Flynn the Co-Founder of Pennsyvania’s Maestros’ Sauce Co.. Since launching in 2019, the company has grown a loyal and avid following in Visit Pittsburgh and beyond. Oyster Cracker Café at Bayshore Center at Bivalve – Port Norris, NJ

Oyster Cracker Café at Bayshore Center at Bivalve – Port Norris, NJ

SmallBitesRadio has been named #14 out of Top 30 Best Hospitality Shows on the planet for 2020. We are thrilled about the news.

The Bayshore Center at Bivalve is a non-profit organization whose mission is to advance the understanding of the human impact on New Jersey’s aquatic environment through education, advocacy, and programming. BCB envisions a New Jersey with clean, safe and healthy water for recreation, consumption and commercial fishing and operates the authentically restored 1928 oyster schooner A.J. MEERWALD, New Jersey’s official Tall Ship, as a hands-on sailing classroom throughout the region. It also operates the Delaware Bay Museum and offers shore-based programs at its campus and schooner’s home port of Bivalve on the scenic Maurice River in Cumberland County.

The best part of all is that restaurant Oyster Cracker Café is onsite to enjoy all the things mentioned above and enjoy a nice waterfront meal. I had the oyster chowder, fried oysters, homemade chips, corn and black bean salsa, and peach pie made with local peaches. Everything was delicious and recommend a visit. Just be aware that the are only open until the end of September as it is seasonal.

Sundaes Homemade Ice-Cream, Water-Ice & Soft-Serve of West Berlin, New Jersey.  Since 1994 they have been “small batching” over 50 flavors early March to late October. I know when they opened in 1994 some people may have questioned the crazy drive thru setup they have and how odd it seems with its zigging and zagging to get to the window to order, but fast forward to #Corona2020 and now it’s brilliant. Had the Thunder Road: Chocolate ice cream paved with marshmallow sauce, cookie pieces and chocolate chips and a large Supreme Vanilla Bean. Both were a yummy treat.

Charlies has been around since 1935 so they must be doing something right. Well they are in fact doing something awesome. Amazing burgers and fries that is. I had a cheeseburger, a Peg Special (Double Cheeseburger, with fried onions and bacon), and an order of large fries. Really can’t say enough good things about my meal here. If you’re in the area, you are doing yourself a disservice by not stopping by. Just be sure to order a few burgers as they are tiny, but well worth it. Enjoy and thank me later.
