Fusion Plate Asian Cuisine – Ocean City, NJ

#SmallBitesRadio has been named the #14 Top Hospitality Programs on the Planet in 2020 and 2021 and #Bluejeanfood.com has been named #23 Top Philadelphia Lifestyle Blogs, Websites & Influencers of 2021

Situated right in the heart of Ocean City’s downtown shopping district is Fusion Plate Asian Cuisine. They offer a really nice varied menu at decent prices. I enjoyed their pork fried rice, chicken with broccoli, shrimp beef chow fun, and shaking beef. Everything I had was delicious and one of better Asian cuisine meals in the shore area. I look forward to trying more things next time.

Looking to get creative in the kitchen? Any ingredient in your fridge or pantry could be the secret to cooking success. How? Chef Kelly Senyei Siberio the creator and founder of Just a Taste.com a food site frequented by millions of people around the world each month will chat about her highly anticipated cookbook ‘THE SECRET INGREDIENT COOKBOOK: 125 Family-Friendly Recipes with Surprisingly Easy Twists’ from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. Every one of her recipes has a secret ingredient, something totally unexpected that takes a dish from common to extraordinary. Some of the 125 tried-and-tested recipes are surprisingly simple, like her Vanilla Bean Drop Doughnuts made with Greek yogurt, or the Sweet and Tangy Baked Chicken Wings made with blackberry jam. Other recipes are nothing short of genius. Kelly Senyei is a host on the Food Network Kitchen app, appears regularly on Home & Family on the Hallmark Channel USA, previously worked at Condé Nast where she launched the Gourmet Live app and was an editor and on-air talent at Gourmet and Epicurious.

With international travel restrictions easing a bit for fully vaccinated individuals everyone has the taste of travel coming back. Inspired by Iceland was one of the first to reopen so that everyone can once again visit Blue Lagoon Iceland, Iceland Airwaves, as well as their many natural beauty and wonders and what better way to get into the mood than to have a preview what you can experience there right in your own home. We will talk to Björn Steinar Jónsson, Saltverk’s founder and engineer turned restaurateur. Saltverk is hand-harvested sustainable sea salt using a long-forgotten 17th-century process from the remote Visit Westfjords – Iceland. Using 100% geothermal energy and only one raw material — the pristine seawater of the region — Saltverk is one of the few entirely sustainable flake sea-salt producers in the world. The pure flavor and ingredients set Saltverk’s salts apart. Saltverk can be found in the kitchens of some of the world’s most renowned restaurants. Then we will be joined by Kjartan Gíslason the founder of Omnom Chocolate. Omnom is Iceland’s first and only “bean-to-bar” chocolate maker. Omnom’s core ingredients include: Single-origin cocoa beans from Madagascar, Tanzania and Nicaragua; organic sugar cane; and natural Icelandic milk powder directly from farmers to further help assess the social, environmental and economic impact of its purchases. The factory itself runs on 100% geothermal energy, making Omnom a leading bean-to-bar producer using renewable energy.

Coming back to America we will welcome on the show James Caverly the CEO of Booskerdoo Coffee & Baking Co. In 2009, James and Amelia Caverly had no idea what a staple their blurry dream would become when they decided to make their first pound of roasted coffee beans in their one-bedroom NYC apartment. Fast forward to 2020, six locations, a franchising program, and 2 kids later, Booskerdoo Coffee & Baking Co. is one of the Jersey Shore’s most beloved coffee shops. Their mission is a simple one: serve a delicious cup of freshly roasted coffee and fantastic homemade baked goods and ultimately, make people happy. Their pro-people outlook, inclusiveness, and free-spirited nature (which is telling by their name) are what has made Booskeroo such a success over the years, with growth on the way.

You say you STILL NEED MORE!!! Don’t forget we still have our regular weekly segments from author, Courier-Post nightlife correspondent and The New York Times recognized blogger John Howard-Fusco for foodie news of the week, Chef Barbie Marshall who is a Chef Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen Season 10 finalist and has appeared on Season 17 of FOX Hell’s Kitchen #AllStars as well named Pennsylvania’s most influential chef by Cooking Light will delight us with her observation of the week, highly acclaimed and respected Vegan Chef Christina Martin will delight with her ‘Healthy Bite’ of week giving nourishing and wholesome advice, and a joke of the week from legendary joke teller Jackie “The Joke Man” Martling of The Howard Stern Show fame. Mike’s BBQ – Philadelphia, PA

Mike’s BBQ – Philadelphia, PA

#SmallBitesRadio has been named #14 out of Top 30 Best Hospitality Shows on the planet for 2020. We are thrilled about the news.

Michael Strauss has been serving his style of BBQ to his friends and family for years. After opening a successful gastropub in South Philly, he started serving samples of his BBQ to his guests, who clamored for more!  With years of practice under his belt, and apprenticeships near and far, he drove to Georgia and picked up a Lang Smoker! The Lang smoker is an old school style “stick smoker”.

Well I can attest that this old school style smoker is putting out some fabulous BBQ. After many years of the Philadelphia area being a barbecue desert, I am happy to see so many choices for good quality BBQ now. The full rack of ribs were cooked beautifully and tasted great dipping them into their homemade sauce and the wings were seasoned nice with every bite being juicy.

Oyster Cracker Café at Bayshore Center at Bivalve – Port Norris, NJ

Oyster Cracker Café at Bayshore Center at Bivalve – Port Norris, NJ

SmallBitesRadio has been named #14 out of Top 30 Best Hospitality Shows on the planet for 2020. We are thrilled about the news.

The Bayshore Center at Bivalve is a non-profit organization whose mission is to advance the understanding of the human impact on New Jersey’s aquatic environment through education, advocacy, and programming. BCB envisions a New Jersey with clean, safe and healthy water for recreation, consumption and commercial fishing and operates the authentically restored 1928 oyster schooner A.J. MEERWALD, New Jersey’s official Tall Ship, as a hands-on sailing classroom throughout the region. It also operates the Delaware Bay Museum and offers shore-based programs at its campus and schooner’s home port of Bivalve on the scenic Maurice River in Cumberland County.

The best part of all is that restaurant Oyster Cracker Café is onsite to enjoy all the things mentioned above and enjoy a nice waterfront meal. I had the oyster chowder, fried oysters, homemade chips, corn and black bean salsa, and peach pie made with local peaches. Everything was delicious and recommend a visit. Just be aware that the are only open until the end of September as it is seasonal.

Charlies has been around since 1935 so they must be doing something right. Well they are in fact doing something awesome. Amazing burgers and fries that is. I had a cheeseburger, a Peg Special (Double Cheeseburger, with fried onions and bacon), and an order of large fries. Really can’t say enough good things about my meal here. If you’re in the area, you are doing yourself a disservice by not stopping by. Just be sure to order a few burgers as they are tiny, but well worth it. Enjoy and thank me later.

Joe’s Farm Market at Joe’s Garden Center – Galloway, NJ

Joe’s Farm Market at Joe’s Garden Center – Galloway, NJ

#SmallBitesRadio has been named #14 out of Top 30 Best Hospitality Shows on the planet for 2020. We are thrilled about the news.

The convenience of using the Atlantic City Express or the Garden State Parkway has made the journey to the Jersey Shore much easier for many. What those paths can’t replicate or replace though are the many Jersey Fresh farm markets and businesses along the way you are missing out on and unable to visit if you took alternate routes instead of the highways.

One such gem is Joe’s Farm Market at Joe’s Garden Center in Galloway, New Jersey. The first thing you should get, but not pictured was their out of this world delicious White Sweet Jersey Corn at a great price. The next treat was their homemade Peach Pie that Joe’s mother (Anita) and sister bake themselves. This pie is hands down better than the majority of peach pies I’ve had from high end bakeries. It was really good. Even if you want to take the highway, you should put this place as a pitstop along your way.

Small Bites Radio production update and return to air date

Small Bites Radio production update and return to air date

Hello again friend of Small Bites Radio,

All I can say is WOW. What a wild and crazy time this year has been. I know nothing is anywhere close to the same as it was before or where we want it to be in any manner, but my only hope is that you, your family, and friends are all healthy and safe.

You are probably asking yourself what could we have to say that you would want to know about? The answer is that Donato and I have decided to give this rinky dink program and distraction from life for an hour every other Sunday a try again provided positive trends continue in our area. Our anticipated return to broadcast is currently Sunday, August 9th with just the crew appearing giving updates on that episode.

After August 9th feel free to send us any guest or segment idea suggestions our way at smallbitesradio@gmail.com and we’ll schedule accordingly. Please be aware the biggest change regarding the program is that we will NOT have any in-studio guests until further notice. All appearances and segments will be prerecorded or live call-in. Only Donato and I will be in-studio. This isn’t our preferred method but is in the best interest of safety. Hopefully this rule will be able to change sooner rather than later.

If you are interested in sending a request to schedule something, PLEASE send it in a email to smallbitesradio@gmail.com and DO NOT reply to this post or send to our social media accounts otherwise it will probably get lost in the shuffle and threads. People have been asking daily to book segments so please be patient with any correspondence to us or delays in our response.

We were lucky enough to be named one of the best Hospitality shows on the planet for 2020 the exact year that the entire hospitality industry has hit rock bottom and has more uncertainty than ever. With that in mind we are aiming to be named 2021’s Top Thing that others wish would have disappeared along with the pandemic. I have a good feeling we can accomplish this with our usual style of lazy interviewing and low budget production. Fingers Crossed 😉

Thank you and looking forward to working and talking with everyone again soon. If you have any questions or need anything else just us know!

Unless you are contacted by us DO NOT visit the studio or reach out to any team member of Small Bites Radio or staff personnel of Wildfire Radio. No segments are being taped remotely for any call-in guests either. ALL production has ceased and is suspended.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you or your clients. This is unprecedented territory with a lot of uncertainty currently. With this in mind and no end in sight on the horizon our policy has changed and we are NOT rescheduling any appearances any longer for shows cancelled. ALL appearances that were to happen have been FULLY CANCELLED. Also our schedule has been frozen and we are NOT accepting any new bookings no matter how far out the date requested until the situation is deemed by local, state, and federal officials that the outbreak has been fully contained.

In keeping a somber tone we have halted all official social media posts coming from Small Bites Radio on all platforms in respect to lives lost and life as we know it changing drastically every day. Any social media activity from any member of Small Bites is unsanctioned currently and they are their personal views and opinions. This is in regard to any format that any message may be published as well as all writing or points of view are personal and they belong to the author of the particular piece. Nothing in any manner is an authentic representation of what Small Bites Radio stands for nor are any messages, posts, videos, audio, etc. endorsed in any manner.

Now is not the time for promotion of any kind. Any distraction from defeating the virus is counterproductive in our belief. For the safety of yourself and others around we beg of you to be sure to share only information from reliable sources regarding this crisis. Together we can get through this.

Hopefully this will resolve itself sooner rather than later, and everyone at Small Bites Radio looks forward to the day we can see everyone again and have you join us to be part of the fun we are known for. Until then please stay safe and healthy and may tomorrow bring a better day.
