Unfortunately due to the continued crisis regarding Coronavirus COVID-19 and the safety of our guests, talent, and studio staff being of utmost importance, all recordings of Small Bites Radio are currently cancelled. As of now ALL bookings are canceled until further notice. If you have an appearance scheduled for a later date, we will be determining the viability of that show occurring closer to the date and reach out to the person who booked the segment or slot appearance personally if and when that show will occur. Unless you are contacted by us DO NOT visit the studio or reach out to any team member of Small Bites Radio or staff personnel of Wildfire Radio. No segments are being taped remotely for any call-in guests either. ALL production has ceased and is suspended.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you or your clients. This is unprecedented territory with a lot of uncertainty currently. With this in mind and no end in sight on the horizon our policy has changed and we are NOT rescheduling any appearances any longer for shows cancelled. ALL appearances that were to happen have been FULLY CANCELLED. Also our schedule has been frozen and we are NOT accepting any new bookings no matter how far out the date requested until the situation is deemed by local, state, and federal officials that the outbreak has been fully contained.

In keeping a somber tone we have halted all official social media posts coming from Small Bites Radio on all platforms in respect to lives lost and life as we know it changing drastically every day. Any social media activity from any member of Small Bites is unsanctioned currently and they are their personal views and opinions. This is in regard to any format that any message may be published as well as all writing or points of view are personal and they belong to the author of the particular piece. Nothing in any manner is an authentic representation of what Small Bites Radio stands for nor are any messages, posts, videos, audio, etc. endorsed in any manner.

Now is not the time for promotion of any kind. Any distraction from defeating the virus is counterproductive in our belief. For the safety of yourself and others around we beg of you to be sure to share only information from reliable sources regarding this crisis. Together we can get through this.

Ray’s is a Philadelphia institution when it comes to quality coffee and teas. Many people swear by this location for their hot beverages of choice. But did you know that they have some serious bragging rights regarding their food? Well in my opinion they have some of the best steamed pork and Chinese cabbage dumplings around accompanied by a delicious Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup to make it a complete and fabulous meal. Trust me, head there to enjoy something good to drink and stick around a little longer and have a bite to eat.

Empire Diner – Brooklawn, NJ

The Brooklawn Circle may still flood frequently, but the long standing Brooklawn Diner has been sweep out by the tide into the swamp of Big Timber Creek. Replacing the icon with new management and it has been resurrected as the Empire Diner. Almost everything is the same, except for a tad touch up and enhancements here and there. They now boast the largest menu in South Jersey. I wish them luck and by my visit they were off to a good start. The food was a little bit better than there predecessor with the usual Jersey Diner fare and service was prompt and friendly. I had the Chicken Marsala, green beans, carrots, and fried zucchini.

This location couldn’t be more different than its surroundings. On a nondescript road with nothing but junkyards, big trucks rumbling down, and a plain exterior the instant moment you walk through the second set of doors at Cityrub Steak & Smokehouse it seems like you were transported somewhere nowhere near you just were. The inside is bright, lively, and hip with a cool décor and varied menu. The service was pleasant and friendly and food was decent. I had the smoked wings which were fantastic. Really great wings here! For the meal I had a Brisket Sandwich with caramelized onions, mushrooms, Manchego cheese, and potato wedges along with a half rack of Memphis style pork ribs accompanied by grilled asparagus. It was enjoyable and would go back.

I am sad to admit I have failed. My foodie license and privileges should be revoked. Small Bites Radio should fire me as host and no longer associate with me at all. How could this happen? Park Place Cafe & Restaurant is the reason behind my epic blunder.

The whispers were out there that this place was good and that I should go there. Brunch is great and best place around is what everyone would say. Well I’m not a brunch fan so I passed. The hype seemed to be a bit much for a Jersey restaurant with no booming downtown or any notable particular attractions near it for me to go out of my way. Other places would call my name and I found my way to them instead.

Shame on me!!! I have let everyone down including myself.

This place is an absolute gem. From beginning to end you couldn’t find a finer dinner dining experience in the South Jersey area. The menu may seem intimidating and prices a tad higher than usual for the average eater, but trust me you won’t be disappointed. It’s all top notch ingredients sourced as ethically as possible and many items foraged locally. Top it all off with service that was impeccable, efficient, and personable throughout the entire meal. You are handed a sheet of paper when seated called “What’s Wild this Week” listing all of the foraged items. I can’t think of another restaurant in the Philadelphia area with a list as long and intensive as Park Place’s wild items. They have truly created a Noma experience in this sleepy little town. Yes you heard right. I dared to say to a Noma experience. Google the name if you’re not familiar with Noma, but with enough time and resources I don’t see a reason why they couldn’t pull it off and become a National or Global phenomenon and powerhouse. I can only hope more places start to focus on every wild item out there and make it edible to cut down on mass corporate farm production and monocultures that have been formed. What Park Place is pulling off isn’t just a philosophy, it’s a lifestyle and Chef Philip Manganaro is living and breathing it into every inch of the restaurant experience there.

Keep an open mind. Try something different. You may just like it. If you do, the future of agriculture could look vastly different. For my meal I had the appetizer lightly seared sea scallop, small plate venison Bolognese, and entrée pan seared sturgeon with a side of Himalayan Morels. I finished the meal with an out of this world hand churned vanilla maple bourbon ice cream. Every bite of every course was divine, and I look forward to my next visit. Don’t be a schlub like me and think the hype isn’t warranted. Everything about them is true provided you’ve heard nothing but good things 😉 Hurry go there now before it takes years to get a reservation like Noma. (The ice cream is not pictured as I just dug right into it and also don’t judge the meal by the photos as this is a place where a picture doesn’t do it justice)
