I had the cheesesteak with provolone cheese, BBQ sauce, bacon, fried onions, mushrooms and an order of fries. Having good fries definitely enhances a meal, and they have good fries here. The cheesesteak was decent and a good option if you’re in the mood for one.

This is a pizza joint that mixes the love between New York and Philly. You get a little of both worlds and of course Long Hots on a variety of menu items. I went with the John Longhot Steak Sandwich which is cheesesteak with long hots – mushrooms – fried onions – provolone cheese, a slice of Brooklyn pizza, and 6 wings with fries. Everything was better than average and a decent price point. It’s a little something different in the Deptford Mall area.

Had a really nice meal here. Didn’t know what to expect since they don’t have a website or any social media accounts to learn much about them. This place is going old school with just word of mouth recommendations, no delivery, and no dine-in with take-out only currently and I’m happy I tired them as everything was delicious. I had Thai Wings, Thai Dumplings, Crazy Noodles, Pad Kra Pow, Pad Broccoli, and Crab Fried Rice.

Who doesn’t love pizza? It truly is one of the greatest foods around. Bricco takes pizza and brings it to a whole new level in this town as my meal was delicious. Had a regular margherita cheese pizza and a short rib, pizza with caramelized onions and fontina cheese with arugula garnish. I will definitely return to try more of the menu.

Pocono Organics – Long Pond, PA

Pocono Organics – Long Pond, PA

#SmallBitesRadio has been named #14 out of Top 30 Best Hospitality Shows on the planet for 2020. We are thrilled about the news.

With picnic benches outlining the outdoor area Pocono Organics partnered with Rodale Institute and a USDA Certified Organic Farm has outdoor dining done correctly in this mountain tourist area near NASCAR’s Pocono Raceway. The food is the brainchild of Chef Lindsay McClain a Food Network ‘Chopped” Champion and also worked closely with restaurateurs Marcie Turney and Val Safran during her time in Philadelphia. I had the Crispy Chicken sandwich with pickle brined chicken thigh, bread & butter zucchini pickles, jalapeno slaw, and a side of house made chips and an order of smoked and grilled wings tossed in Padron wing sauce with green goddess dipping sauce, pickled vegetables, and Mobtown Fermentation Wild Kombucha Elderberry.

Below is from Pocono Organics:

Pocono Organics is poised to be the largest Regenerative Organic Farm in North America, sprawling over 380 acres in Long Pond, Pennsylvania. Pocono Organics has partnered with Rodale Institute, the largest independent organic research station in the world and true pioneers and industry leaders in regenerative organic farming practices.

We have built more than 38,000 square feet of greenhouse growing space during our first phase of construction, and our greenhouses stand at 35 feet tall! Currently, Pocono Organics is a USDA Certified Organic Farm and soon will be Regenerative Organic Certified. Our efforts focus on the gold standards of regenerative, sustainable, and organic requirements.

Guests can enjoy and purchase our produce year round in our Organic Farm Market and Café, where our resident Chopped Champion Chef will be preparing farm-fresh food and sharing delicious and easy-to-make recipes.

Pocono Organics is an agritourism destination with our sister company and hotel, The Village at Pocono, which features rooms with full kitchens (located next to our farm!). Imagine the experience of attending hands-on cooking and educational workshops as well as health, wellness, and yoga retreats.

Shang Hai 1 – (Chinatown) Philadelphia, PA

Shang Hai 1 – (Chinatown) Philadelphia, PA

This place was such a joy with heavenly Wu Xi soup dumplings with pork and shrimp. These things were down right AWESOME and I could eat my fill of just them. Definitely some of the best soup dumplings around the city. I completed the meal eating beef stew with white rice. The beef was extremely tender and just broke apart and the sauce was delicious. I will be trying more of the menu here whenever I get a chance.

Just a stones throw away from Edwin B Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge sits Tony Beef. Cows may want to see if they can get to the refuge because they are serving one delicious burger here. The menu is really diverse and they offer a little bit of something for everyone with a large variety of meat and even non-meat choices.

I had the single burger on a house roll with white cheddar cheese, special sauce, fried onions, sauteed mushrooms, 5 piece wings with BBQ sauce, a small fry that was phenomenal, and Hubert’s Lemonade. Everything was perfect and I was impressed with the entire meal. If in the area I highly recommend a visit.

Italian Affair – Glassboro, NJ

Italian Affair – Glassboro, NJ

Italian Affair is a large building with a different style in each room. They are putting out the classic dishes with a few twists here and there. I had pasta e fagioli, wild boar ragu, and homemade vanilla gelato. They have a very strong fan base and followers so they are doing something right.  Ever been here? Let me know your thoughts on social media of what you had and your experience.

If you’re craving a pupusas or some El Salvadorian food look no further. This place is top notch. I had the Chicharron Con Queso that was really good, fajita mix with rice, beans, pico de gallo, and tortilla that was amazing, and Jugo de fruta that went down smooth and was fantastic with real pieces of fruit.

Mike’s BBQ – Philadelphia, PA

Mike’s BBQ – Philadelphia, PA

#SmallBitesRadio has been named #14 out of Top 30 Best Hospitality Shows on the planet for 2020. We are thrilled about the news.

Michael Strauss has been serving his style of BBQ to his friends and family for years. After opening a successful gastropub in South Philly, he started serving samples of his BBQ to his guests, who clamored for more!  With years of practice under his belt, and apprenticeships near and far, he drove to Georgia and picked up a Lang Smoker! The Lang smoker is an old school style “stick smoker”.

Well I can attest that this old school style smoker is putting out some fabulous BBQ. After many years of the Philadelphia area being a barbecue desert, I am happy to see so many choices for good quality BBQ now. The full rack of ribs were cooked beautifully and tasted great dipping them into their homemade sauce and the wings were seasoned nice with every bite being juicy.
