The Fashion District of Philadelphia as it is being re-branded is really taking off and looking nice after years of decline. I had the South Philly Maserati Burger here and the burger was juicy and cooked well. Nice beer selection, and service was quick with decent prices for Center City Philadelphia.

Uncle Pig’s Barbeque Pit – Gibbstown, NJ

The South Jersey area BBQ has been growing and growing the last few years and it has been glorious. Well another desitnation to choose from is Uncle Pig’s Barbeque Pit – Gibbstown, NJ that hails a multiple time Kansas City Barbecue Society BBQ Winner for New Jersey contests. The service was super friendly, quick, and efficient. It is mostly setup for take-out orders, but there are a few high-top chairs and tables to dine-in. The menu is diverse and I had the cup of brisket chili, and a half rack of ribs platter with fries and collard greens. Everything was good and if in the area I would certainly go back and eat some more.

Nifty Fifty’s – Turnersville, NJ

What a fun and delicious destination this place is. The food was really good for what they are serving, and with an arcade and mini-golf available as well, it makes it so much more than just a meal here. It truly turns into an experience. I had the single Royal Burger with BBQ sauce, Texas Tommy with chili, and a side order of fries. When in the area, will certainly go back again.

Sakana Oriental – Woodbury, NJ

Sakana Oriental – Woodbury, NJ

A  repurposed Jersey Diner has a Chinese/Japanese restaurant sitting inside of it. It is slightly dated, but the personalized service was outstanding making me feel right at home even though it was my first time there. Not too many surprises on the menu, but they are reasonably priced especially for their lunch special which I ordered from, and the food was better than average. If in the area, I would go back for sure. Pictured is wonton soup and entree of pork with broccoli with pork fried rice.

I have to say I have had rolled ice cream quite a few times, but this one really hit the spot. I don’t know if it’s just because I really enjoyed my visit to Philadelphia’s Chinatown that day, but it seemed better than usual. I had the strawberry Cheesecake, ice cream, strawberries, strawberry syrup, whipped cream.

Robert’s Steakhouse – Hard Rock Hotel and Casino – Atlantic City, NJ

Robert’s Steakhouse – Hard Rock Hotel and Casino – Atlantic City, NJ

A few years ago, it may have seemed that Atlantic City was down, but they certainly were never out. Well with the Hard Rock converting the former Trump Taj Mahal into a beautiful and fun destination to visit, they also have a winning combination of a delicious meal with Robert’s Steakhouse returning. This was my first time to Robert’s and I must say I was thoroughly impressed. The service was impeccable and the food was outstanding from Chef Will Savarese and his team. Summer is heating up soon, and so will the appetites of visitor to the Jersey Shore. Well this is a decent option that I will certainly visit again. This is what I had: Ahi Tuna with a marinated avacoda that was really good, Ribeye cooked to perfection topped with Sautéed Crabmeat with Béarnaise and Grilled Shrimp, and sides Potato au Gratin with Bacon, Sautéed Wild Mushrooms, and Mac and Cheese.

Who knew about Himalayan cuisine? Well not me, but let me tell you after my visit I am a huge fan and will be looking to learn and taste more about it. The Beef Manchurian Dry was phenomenal. So much flavor in every bite, the meat was tender, and cooked to perfection. The Shrimp Hakku Bakku Fried Rice was good, and I would have enjoyed it more with jumbo sized shrimp even if I had to pay a little more, but still was tasty and a great side to have with the beef. They really made the visit feel like I was at home with really friendly service, attention to detail, and helping explain the menu. I don’t know what the rest of the menu is like, but I can tell you this was a great meal.

I remember the Lobster Trap being here and it was not in good shape. What a difference a few years can make. On the waterfront LaScala’s Birra is a gorgeous eatery that really enhances the dining experience on the Cooper River. We had just the basic margherita pizza here and really enjoyed it. Cooked perfectly with fresh ingredients while also the service was top notch. Will definitely come back to try some more items whenever in the area again.
